Parent consent form

Before a child's details go into Nuru, the nursery needs their parent's consent. Here is a form you can print, fill in and keep.

Last updated 17 October 2026

In short

  • Kenya's data protection rules need a parent's consent before a nursery keeps a child's records in an app.
  • Photos need their own consent, and parents can say no without it affecting their child's place.
  • Check the person signing is the child's parent or guardian, and keep the signed form.
  • Parents can change their mind at any time.

1. When to use it

  • For every child, before you add them to Nuru.
  • For children already at the nursery, before you add their records.
  • Again if you start using Nuru for something new that the form doesn't cover.

2. How to use it

  • Print the form below, or copy it into your own enrolment pack.
  • Write your nursery's name at the top, and go through it with the parent so they understand each part.
  • Check the person signing is the child's parent or guardian, for example by seeing their ID.
  • Keep the signed form safely for as long as you keep the child's records.
  • If a parent says no to photos, don't post photos of their child, and remind your educators.

The form is a starting point. Your nursery is responsible for the consent it collects, so check it fits how you work, and take advice if you're unsure.
